Far easier to just record audio and/or midi events into individual tracks and clips - then just use the clips to layer sounds. Not to mention you've got greater control with gain on each instrument, effects, looping, slicing, etc. I've never used the looper yet in a live show because working with clips is so much easier, faster and gives more control.
